The LSCA has been in the process of applying for charitable status with the Charity Commission, with the approval being confirmed in early 2026.
This marks a significant evolution in our purpose. Becoming a charity will allow us to formalise our commitment to supporting the next generation of Chartered Accountants and to expand the impact we can have across the region.
Our future focus is clear: to help young people who aspire to join the profession.
We recognise that the journey to becoming a Chartered Accountant can be demanding — academically, professionally, and financially.
Our aim is to provide meaningful support at the earliest stages, helping students and early‑career individuals access opportunities, resources, and guidance that can shape their future success.
We have long-standing relationships with universities, colleges, and training providers across the North West. Each year, we award prizes that recognise outstanding achievement and encourage excellence among students pursuing accountancy and finance.
As a charity, we intend to strengthen these partnerships further, working collaboratively to identify and support talented individuals who may benefit from additional help
Our ambition is to go beyond recognition and offer direct financial assistance to those who need it most.
This may include contributions toward study materials, exam fees, travel costs, or other essential expenses that can make a real difference to a young person’s ability to progress.
Alongside financial support, we aim to provide mentoring, networking opportunities, and access to the professional community that has defined the LSCA for generations
In the coming months, we will share details with our members about how they can participate in this important new chapter.
This initiative represents a return to the spirit of innovation and leadership that characterised the Society’s founding in 1870 – a commitment to shaping the future of the profession while honouring the legacy of those who came before us.
